Researchers’ Day Orange Force 9-12-2024
On Monday, December 9, 2024, the annual Researchers’ Day of Orange Force took place. This event brings together researchers from all three research lines of Orange Force. The theme of the day was knowledge exchange across the research lines. After a brief presentation of the achieved results and the remaining planned activities per research line, an interesting discussion followed about the applicability of the results in practice, for further research, and the connection to outcomes and findings from other research lines.
Specifically, there was discussion about linking the knowledge from the three different studies in Research Line 3 (Measuring oral health) regarding biomarkers in saliva, toward a joint follow-up proposal on this topic and the further development of a point-of-care test. Researchers from Research Line 2 (Unlocking and connecting oral health data) presented insights into the possibilities and limitations for linking and using data from cohorts, dental, and general medical practices, which could have applications far beyond this project. The infrastructure for data collection and processing currently being developed offers opportunities for follow-up research and implementation in practice.
Researchers from Research Line 1 (Innovative approach to oral care for older adults) shared that a practical guideline for interprofessional collaboration is being tested in five different regions, with contributions from various disciplines such as general practitioners, home care workers, dietitians, etc. Preliminary positive experiences in introducing the topic of oral care and oral health into existing, well-functioning interprofessional networks are being translated into actions to provide these networks with the information and tools necessary to address oral health.
In conclusion: the results are becoming increasingly visible, researchers see opportunities and potential for applying the outcomes, and they look forward to continuing collaborations with even greater impact in our mission to shape the future!
